Raphael Auphan appointed CEO of Scilab

Scilab, worldwide leader of open source numerical and scientific computation software, today announced the appointment of Raphaël Auphan as Scilab Chief Executive Officer.

With more than twenty-years of international experience, Raphaël Auphan has a strong knowledge of high-technology sectors. As CEO, Raphaël Auphan is in charge of the company development and ensures its positioning on the European and international markets. He succeeds Claude Gomez, who will assume a new role as adviser of the company.

Jacques Dhellemmes, Scilab Non-Executive Chairman, welcomed this appointment: "We are delighted that Raphaël has agreed to make Scilab benefit from his proven ability to drive business development and from his entrepreneurial spirit that characterizes him so well. Prior to joining Scilab, Raphaël Auphan led a team at Withings, the worldwide leader in connected health devices, following the acquisition by Withings of Zyken, the company that Raphaël founded and headed for nearly a decade. A large majority of his career has been spent internationally. In Silicon Valley, where he joined ViaFone at its foundation to become North-America Vice-President until the acquisition of ViaFone by NASDAQ-listed Extended Systems. In England, as Vice-President Europe of Extended Systems, later acquired by Sybase, itself acquired by SAP. He also served as board member of Sparus Software, a mobile enterprise software company, until its acquisition by Zenprise, itself acquired by Citrix Systems for $327M.

Raphaël started his career in Asia-Pacific at Thales Transportation as Systems Engineer, then at Gemplus (Gemalto) where he started its subsidiary in Malaysia. 44 years old, Raphaël graduated from Supélec with an MSc in Computer Science and networks.
