Dotmatics collaboration to provide a single software interface for lab digitalisation

Dotmatics, a scientific informatics software and services company has announced a partnership with HighRes Biosolutions (HighRes), that will enable scientists to plan experiments and run instruments from the ELN.

The collaboration combines the high-throughput laboratory automation capability of Dotmatics’ electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) with HighRes’ Cellario instrument control software enabling R&D scientists to plan experiments, run individual instruments, and publish and analyse data within a single software interface. The integration will save researchers’ time and improve ease of operation as a further step towards the Lab of the Future (LoTF).

Dr Stephen Gallagher, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Dotmatics, commented: ‘This collaboration is another exciting advancement of Dotmatics’ commitment to bring scientists a seamless digital lab experience. By integrating two industry leaders’ software, we are pleased to be able to offer a solution that streamlines workflows in a move towards the Lab of the Future.’

Having multiple interfaces for performing scientific research using automation and instruments can be complicated and time-consuming, increasing the risk of inaccuracies. By integrating instrument control and the ELN into one platform, the steps required by scientists to plan and produce data are reduced, thereby streamlining processes, enhancing compliance, and improving the overall user experience. Using Dotmatics’ platform as the central data hub to orchestrate instruments both on the HighRes robotics work stations as well as standalone instruments, researchers will be able to operate in a digitalized laboratory environment, using an integrated software to plan, conduct, and record experiments, with all data stored securely in the cloud.

Ira Hoffman, Chief Executive Officer, HighRes Biosolutions, commented: ‘We’re excited to be working with Dotmatics to close the loop between ELN, automated experiment execution and data capture/analysis. HighRes’ and Dotmatics’ API architectures enabled streamlined integration between the two platforms to create a seamless workflow. We think that scientists will save significant time and sources of error from being able to push their parameterized experiment requests directly over to Cellario. Cellario will then interpret the request to run automatically, with the correct experimental parameters and publish the data back into Dotmatics without any user interaction. We think the Dotmatics APIs, products and team are strongly aligned with our vision for lab automation and will have significant benefit for our shared users.’

Dotmatics offers flexible ELN solutions to capture, store and search experiments from all scientific disciplines, ensuring data is always secure and accessible across research teams. HighRes’ Cellario software is an easy-to-use laboratory scheduling system that allows users to control lab instruments and automation systems to set up and run experiments.
