BSH selects Siemens’ Simcenter technology

Siemens has announced that BSH Hausgeräte GmbH, the largest home appliance manufacturer in Europe, has selected Simcenter STAR-CCM+ software to complement its computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.

Simcenter STAR-CCM+, part of the Simcenter portfolio, is a CFD-focused multiphysics simulation tool that can uniquely integrate a wide range of physics with intelligent design exploration in a single end-to-end environment. Using Simcenter STAR-CCM+ can enable BSH to conduct analysis and exploration of product behaviour, resulting in intelligent decisions early in the development process. Access to simulation data early in the design process can help drive innovation and accelerate product development.

‘Implementing Simcenter STAR-CCM+ can provide a clear advantage to our company to accelerate our product development processes, particularly as we are implementing the digital twin to support our expanding business in the coming years,’ said Uwe Tontsch, VP and head of Product Lifecycle Management at BSH. ‘Simulating products early in development with CFD analysis helps our business units to reduce our product development time and save costs, ultimately helping provide better products at even greater value to our customers.’

BSH cited usability as a critical benefit in making their decisions, with Simcenter STAR-CCM+ offering a single and modern user interface for pre- and post-processing tasks and all CFD-related disciplines and solvers. BSH particularly looks to use the efficient pre-processing capabilities within Simcenter STAR-CCM+ and plans to extend its CFD analysis for their products. BSH also uses the Teamcenter portfolio for their global product lifecycle management (PLM) system, which provides for easy integration with tools such as Simcenter STAR-CCM+.

‘BSH is a longstanding partner that understands the value of an end-to-end integrated PLM system, and the benefit it offers to product development,’ said Urban August, senior VP and managing director, Germany, Siemens PLM Software. ‘Simcenter STAR-CCM+ can integrate seamlessly with other tools such as Teamcenter, NX, and Tecnomatix, and we look forward to seeing the innovative new designs that may come as a result of this streamlined process.’
