The world’s biggest gathering for high-performance computing (HPC) is returning. This November, the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis, better known as SC, will take place in St Louis at the America’s Center from 16 to 21 November 2025.
The event offers a week of conference sessions, networking events and a large exhibition, showcasing the leading edge of HPC technology, networking, storage, data analysis and the many disciplines that support them. There will also be a large number of vendors and speakers discussing the use of AI and quantum computing, and how they integrate with, or will be used alongside, HPC technology.

Last year’s edition, SC24 in Atlanta, attracted around 18,104 attendees from across the world, setting a new benchmark for scale and participation. With almost 500 exhibitors, the show floor offered a vivid snapshot of how seriously the HPC community is addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by emerging technologies.

Against that backdrop, SC25 promises to generate interesting topics for discussion. One of the headline features of the programme is a keynote address by futurist and author Thomas Koulopoulos, scheduled for Tuesday 18 November at 08:30 CST in the America’s Ballroom at the America’s Center. Under the title Gigatrends: The Exponential Forces Shaping Our Digital Future, Koulopoulos will explore six major forces of change, from the future of healthcare and work to the rise of our digital selves and the role of trust in a hyperconnected world.

As founder of the Delphi Group think tank, investor, podcaster and author of fourteen books, including his 2024 release Gigatrends, he has earned recognition for making complex technological change understandable and relevant. His presence signals that SC25 will not only focus on the hardware, software and infrastructure of HPC, but also on the cultural, social and strategic implications of computing at scale.

Beyond the keynote, SC25’s technical programme spans full and half-day tutorials, workshops on Sunday and Monday, invited talks from Tuesday to Thursday, panels, Birds of a Feather sessions, posters, a doctoral showcase, an exhibitor forum, a job fair, a special Friday session showcasing the art of HPC, and the renowned SCinet network infrastructure. The variety of formats ensures that everyone, from early career researchers to seasoned professionals, will find something of value.

SCW Breakthroughs Alumni, such as Professor Simon McIntosh-Smith and Dr Satoshi Matsuoka, will be speaking at SC25. To learn about some of the topics they have covered this year, read this story about the innovation that is taking HPC beyond Moore’s Law

The St Louis venue, located in the heart of downtown, the America’s Center is surrounded by hotels and restaurants, making logistics straightforward for delegates. Combined with the conference’s scale, depth and strategic vision, SC25 is shaping up to be a landmark event for anyone with a stake in the future of high-performance computing.

SC25 is the focal point for a community navigating rapid transformation in areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, exascale systems, networking and data convergence. The keynote by Koulopoulos provides the perfect frame for this year’s theme of acceleration and adaptation, as the HPC world continues to redefine what is possible.

As a media sponsor of the event, SCW will be in attendance to cover the exciting news announcements and to talk with the experts who are leading the field of HPC and driving the future of scientific research.
