Visualization Sciences Group (VSG) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Amira 3D visualisation software from Visage Imaging, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pro Medicus. Sharing the same architecture and the same underlying technology kernel, Amira is the historical brother-product of VSG’s Avizo application, dedicated to life sciences and bio-medical data visualisation and analysis.
By acquiring Amira, VSG expands and accelerates its position in 3D visualisation and analysis software tools in all scientific and industrial domains, from life sciences to geosciences, materials science and engineering applications. The company has announced that it will continue to strongly develop the Amira product family with a specific focus on delivering state-of-the art 3D visualisation features for even the most challenging life sciences and bio-medical data.
