Integrator expands board with two technical experts

OCF, the UK HPC system integrator, has appointed two of its long-term employees, Barry Evans and Russell Slack, to its board of directors.

'Our deep HPC technical skills, expertise and knowledge - recognised by our customers and the wider industry – is unique, sets us apart from other non-technical high end storage and HPC resellers and gives us an advantage in an increasingly competitive channel,' says Julian Fielden, managing director, OCF. 'The appointment of Barry and Russell to the board further demonstrates our commitment to supporting the increasingly technical needs of our growing base of customers.'

Working for OCF since 2002, Evans is technical manager responsible for pre-sales, solution architecture and technical strategy recommendations for OCF's clients. With an extensive background in systems engineering and systems management, Evans previously held positions with West Corporation, the US Department of Defense and Utell International in the United States.

Slack is engineering manager working for OCF since 2002 and with its predecessor firm since December 1995. Responsible for a team of six engineers; Slack has worked his way up from trainee engineer, Unix system engineer and senior engineer with OCF. He oversees every part of customers' post-sales installations which includes: coordinating delivery of customers' orders to OCF for pre-installation quality testing purposes; investigating the most effective way of implementing solutions; coordinating the delivery and managing the installation of solutions at customers' sites and the creation and agreement of 'statements of work' to ensure that the scope of work is clearly understood by all parties.
