Genedata has introduced its Selector system for managing biotechnological strain development in fermentation-based applications. According to the company, Selector is an integrated data management and analysis system specifically for industrial biotechnology R&D. It supports industrial biotechnology production of feed and food additives, fine chemicals, biofuels, and personal care, pharmaceutical, and agrochemical products.

The company believes that industrial biotech R&D differs from pharmaceutical R&D in that it requires more flexible and dynamic computational solutions, combining, for example, genotyping, phenotyping, screening, sequence analyses, and genomic technologies. The Selector product offers the ability to deal with complex and voluminous data, and integrates with next-generation sequencing data from strain re-sequencing programs.
