Pharmaceutical company injects $2.1m into LIMS

Starlims Technologies has been selected by one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies for a $2.1m LIMS project.

Starlims v10 will be implemented in the pharmaceutical company’s Research and Development and Quality Assurance laboratories in North America, Europe and Asia.

The pharmaceutical company will be able to share scientific data and best practices across multiple laboratory sites with the Starlims deployment. The pharmaceutical customer also intends to standardise on Starlims, beginning with eight sites.

One of the key considerations the customer had in selecting Starlims was its scalability, which is a benefit of its entirely web-based architecture. Starlims also offers multilingual and multi-time zone support, which are important considerations for distributed LIMS implementations.

Jeff Ferguson, COO at Starlims, said: ‘We are seeing more companies standardising their LIMS solutions across the enterprise and we believe Starlims v10 is well positioned to meet this demand.’

By standardising on Starlims, the company is expected to enhance regulatory compliance and traceability, by facilitating more consistent reporting and enhancing data security. The web-based Starlims v10 system will simplify deployment, validation, scale up and upgrade of the system while reducing resource requirements for ongoing maintenance.
