Cray announces AI supercomputers

Cray has announced the launch of two new Cray CS-Storm accelerated cluster supercomputers designed to address the artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. The two new systems, the Cray CS-Storm 500GT and the Cray CS-Storm 500NX will provide customers with accelerator-optimised systems for large scale machine learning and deep learning applications.

NCSA and Exxon Mobil set a new record for oil and gas simulation

A collaboration between the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), and ExxonMobil has set a new record for the number of processors used for an oil and gas reservoir simulation. The teams managed to increase the number of processor working on this simulation to 716,800, around four times the previous record.

Cray achieves a new performance milestone for deep learning research

At the 2016 Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS) Conference in Barcelona, Spain, supercomputing provider Cray announced the results of a deep learning collaboration between Cray, Microsoft, and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) – to increase the performance of large-scale deep learning algorithms using Cray supercomputers

Baylor University selects cray CS400 supercomputer

Global supercomputer integrator Cray has announced that Baylor University in Texas has selected a Cray CS400 cluster supercomputer.

The Cray system will serve as the primary high-performance computing (HPC) platform for Baylor researchers and will be supported by the Academic and Research Computing Services group (ARCS) of the Baylor University Libraries.
