NAG heads East to tackle Chinese market

Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) has partnered with Dawning Information Industry to develop HPC resources for a wide range of Chinese industries and research areas, including automotive and aeronautics engineering, nuclear power research, water quality engineering, electrical engineering, drug discovery and manufacture and IT.

Edward Chou, NAG Greater China branch manager, noted: 'Dawning is the most important HPC agency in mainland China, and NAG is very pleased to form an alliance with its first-class technical team for computer manufacture, and its associated colleagues from the Chinese Academy of Science Institute for Computer Technologies. Dawning's ongoing innovation is outstanding, and is exemplified by Dawning 5000A at the Shanghai Super Computing Center. With the support of the National 862 Plan, Dawning 5000A has achieved a peak performance of 233 Teraflops and 180.6 Teraflops with the Linpack benchmark, placing it in the 15th place in the world's top high performance computing services (Top 500 2009/06).'

Cao Zhennan, Dawning Technical Support Center general manager, commenting on the value of this new strategic partnership, said: 'Currently Dawning is assisting research at the forefront of many different research areas, and this new partnership with NAG will enable us to provide users with the best possible services for their needs. Numerical analysis is key to most of these research endeavors and we are glad to recommend the highest quality numerical software available in the world — the NAG routines. NAG functions win universal praise for their quality and precision and we are keen to recommend NAG algorithms for these reasons. Our new collaborative relationship with NAG includes our recommendation of NAG products, technical support and mutual marketing efforts.'
