Two more organisations have chosen to adopt Allinea software for debugging and performance reports.
Convergent Science (CSI), a provider of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software has recently begun using Allinea’s debugging tool Allinea DDT. Cardiff University has also started using Allinea software for performnce reports.
CSI is expanding into new areas where fast and accurate analysis of complex geometries is important. To ensure code is delivered ready to run on large clusters, CSI runs Allinea DDT on multiple workstations in its office, where developers can clear up issues as they work.
‘Adopting Allinea Software’s debugging tool has transformed how quickly Convergent Science can develop new products and upgrades,’ said Mandhapati Raju, Principal Engineer at Convergent Science. He continued: 'Allinea DDT even finds bugs that other debuggers have just missed. And it’s so easy to use that we can put new developers onto it straight away – they really value the intuitive interface.'
Cardiff University has been using Allinea Performance Reports to gain more insight into its systems at both its ARCCA service – which provides access and training in advanced computing to students and researchers – and at HPC Wales, its supercomputing service for the public and private sectors.
Allinea Performance Reports analyses key metrics such as the effective vectorisation, I/O and MPI performance for any application, allowing users and system managers to make sure code runs as effectively and efficiently as possible.
‘Allinea Performance Reports has given us an insight into where workloads can be adjusted, which can be placed on more effectively on the hardware, or even recompiled to be able to perform more simulations to satisfy the demand for time on our systems,’ said Martyn Guest, Director of ARCCA and Technical Director of HPC Wales.
