Release 5.2, the latest version of IRIS Explorer from NAG, is now available on the Mac OS X platform. IRIS Explorer is an advanced visualisation application development environment and is one of the first modular, multi-purpose visualisation environments
Golden Software's Surfer program is a 3D visualisation and surface modelling package, used extensively for terrain modelling, landscape visualisation, surface analysis, gridding, volumetrics, and much more.
Miner3D is a visual data mining environment enabling a flexible analytical interaction with large datasets, regardless of the user's statistical or mathematical expertise or programming skills.
Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) has introduced a number of enhancements in the CA and CAplus databases on STN, including additional content and features for more effective patent searching with IPC codes. IPC-related improvements in CA/CAplus databases include the implementation of all available IPC classifications in patents in the CA/CAplus databases from the Canadian, European, French, German, Japanese, Russian, UK, US and WIPO patent offices.
National Instruments has released LabVIEW 8 Student Edition Software Suite, a full-featured version of the graphical development platform that provides students with a flexible, hands-on learning environment for designing, prototyping and deploying engineering and science concepts into real-world applications. The software suite, for the first time, includes a collection of powerful National Instruments LabVIEW add-ons for mathematics, control design, signal processing and communications.
Advanced Chemistry Development (ACD/Labs) has released version 9.0 of the chemical structure drawing program, ACD/ChemSketch and the expert nomenclature tool, ACD/Name. It is now fully compatible with the InChI chemical nomenclature protocol, making it possible to produce unique alphanumeric string representations for chemical compounds that will facilitate the communication of molecular structures electronically.
CEC Capital Equipment has released DASYLab Version 9.0, the company’s Windows-based graphical data acquisition software. DASYLab 9 features an updated user interface, improved online help and interactive tutorial and more than 150 examples to help engineers accelerate set up and development of data acquisition, process monitoring, data logging and display, process control, data analysis, and reporting applications.
Cellomics has launched its latest BioApplication, Tube Formation, an image analysis algorithm that allows scientists to analyse quantitatively angiogenic tube formation in vitro.
Angiogenesis is a critical process in cancer as well as normal physiological processes.
OpenEye Scientific Software has released Ogham and LexiChem, programs that handle 2D rendering, naming of compounds and the generation of structures from names. The company has focused on software for 3D modelling, but, for communication between chemists, names and 2D renderings are extremely important.
Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) has delivered chemical information, including structures, via live interaction using BlackBerry and other handheld devices, opening up the opportunity to retrieve hundreds of literature references as well as molecular structure and related data for specific substances in real time. CAS will be making this mobile route to scientific databases, called CAS Mobile, available through its STN and SciFinder services in the near future. Users will be able to retrieve and analyse information from CAS' principal databases, CAplus and CAS Registry.
Synergy Software has released KaleidaGraph 4.0, containing significant axes improvements and other enhancements to its graphing and data analysis toolsets.
Syngene, which manufactures image-analysis solutions, has introduced a new range of GeneGnome automated image analysers, designed for imaging chemiluminescent samples.
The new system comes complete with a 16-bit cooled camera inside a compact, light-tight cabinet, and a new white-light source for the added flexibility of imaging coloured markers. The camera is fully integrated to a processor and flat-screen monitor for easy viewing and offers fast and accurate molecular weight analysis.
