Global supercomputer leader Cray has announced that its Cray CX1000 supercomputer will ship with the Intel Xeon processor 7500 Series. Built for demanding applications with advanced reliability and scalability, this Intel Xeon processor series will be featured in the Cray CX1000-S compute configuration of the Cray CX-1000 system.

The symmetric multiprocessing (SMP)-based Cray CX1000-S configuration provides users with up to 128 cores of 'big memory' computing built on Intel's QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) technology. The Cray CX1000-S system delivers maximum performance on scale-up jobs.
