CarnoJet System

Green Revolution Cooling

Green Revolution Cooling has launched a total fluid-submersion cooling solution, the CarnotJet system, for data-centre servers that could reduce a data centre's total power consumption by almost half.

Rack-mounted servers from any OEM or ODM are installed in racks filled with a dielectric fluid -- a high-performance blend of white mineral oil that has a heat capacity 1,200 times greater than air. The CarnoJet system is packaged with redundancy sensors, diagnostics, and reporting systems.

The company claims that the solution will reduce not only energy consumption but also infrastructure costs by reducing the amount of equipment used for the cooling process. The company claims the entire cooling system can be installed for $1-$1.5 per server.

The CarnoJet system is pre-engineered and pre-packaged, and the company states that installation takes less than a day per 100 kW of capacity. The design of the system means that it is immune to fluctuations in ambient temperature, meaning that it can be installed in more varied environments than most traditional servers.

It is claimed that the CarnoJet system can reduce total power consumption of a data centre by almost half. This figure is largely achieved by reducing the facility power consumption by more than 95 percent, with an average mPUE of 1.03 and a peak of 1.07. The rest of the savings are made by reducing the power of the physical servers by 10-20 percent.
