ExaNIC X4

Exablaze

Exablaze, which develops ultra-low-latency hardware, has announced the introduction of what it claims is the world’s fastest Network Interface Card (NIC), the ExaNIC X4.

In tests that measured round-trip latency from an application to the fibre and back, the ExaNIC X4 achieved latencies of less than one microsecond for raw Ethernet frames.

The quad-port 10GbE device has additional features such as hardware-based time-stamping, bridging and port mirroring.

The company plans to have independent validation of its latency claims from research and testing tools provider, Securities Technology Analysis Centre (STAC). Exablaze will utilise the STAC-N1 Test Harness to benchmark performance of the ExaNIC X4, and share the results in the STAC Vault.

The ExaNIC X4 network card is available from November 2013.
