Eurotech has introduced its Aurora supercomputer, which has been designed to deliver more computing power, scalability, and energy savings while retaining compatibility with existing software applications and environments. The system is based on the Intel Xeon 5500 processor, and it is Intel 'Cluster Ready' certified, offering compatibility with the existing X86 software applications and development tools.
Aurora features 100Gb/s cluster interconnect bandwidth per node, with a 60Gb/s 3D torus and a 40Gb/s Infiniband interface. Multi-level synchronisation networks give the system efficient scalability, and an onboard, programmable accelerator can be used to implement highly optimised algorithms. The system is cooled by a precise liquid cooling system, which keeps the tightest control over the temperature of every component, ensuring the stable operating conditions.
