VISUALISATION / GRAPHICS

Golden Software has upgraded its MapViewer thematic mapping package with more than 100 new features and enhancements. Among the new features is the ability to create contour maps and vector maps. Both new map types are fully customisable. Users can specify the contour fill and line styles, contour interval, and label settings for the contour map, and control the vector frequency, length, colour method, arrow style, and line and fill styles for the vector map. MapViewer gives you more ways than ever to most effectively display your data.
Two other powerful upgrades to MapViewer 7 are the ability to plot points on a map from a simple data file of US city and state names and the ability to create insets on a page. Posting points on a map based on US city and state names makes it very easy to see the city locations on your map without spending time looking up the coordinates for each location. Insets allow the user to display or enhance a portion of the map. There is no limit to the number of insets allowed and each inset can be edited, customised, positioned, or scaled to any size.
MapViewer 7 also boasts many enhancements to the user-interface: new pie map shapes, a new cartogram mapping method, enhanced layer managing options, and improved territory management just to name a few.
