MATHEMATICS, SIMULATION AND MODELLING
LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim Rev 11
13 January 2012
LMS International has released the latest version of its flagship product for system simulation, LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim Rev 11. In addition to increased support for industry-oriented applications, dedicated libraries, tools and demonstrators, and openness to external software and platform interfacing, several improvements have been made to address the needs of the automotive, aerospace and mechanical industries.
For the automotive market, LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim Rev 11 strengthens LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim transmission applications, with new Dual Mass Flywheel components and a much larger suite of vehicle models, including cars, motorbikes, buses, trucks, tanks and trailers. The new Model Test Bench provides effective engine characterisation, modelling and comparison/validation against test data, and combustion fitting tools for advanced and comprehensive combustion model calibration.
Complete demonstrators aimed at balancing fuel economy and vehicle dynamics have also been introduced, and the performance of the heat exchanger assembly tool and the two phase flow/air conditioning libraries in the vehicle thermal management area have been improved.
Within the aerospace market, Rev 11 allows for simplified thermal condition definition and performance analysis for the aircraft cabin as well as for further investigation in the More Electrical Aircrafts domain; two new turbo-shaft demonstrators are provided to integrate power source modelling and simulation for enhanced virtual integrated aircraft analysis. A new development library with dedicated components and demonstrators has also been added.
Furthermore, accuracy in the software-embedded physics for the thermal, fluid, electrical and mechanical domains has been increased, and support for the Modelica Specification and related MSL (Modelica Standard Library) has been improved. LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim is now compatible with the Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI), easing the exchanges with other tools, and Rev 11 embeds a simplified workflow to connect LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim to Simulink and enable the export of multiple LMS Imagine.Lab AMESim models to a real-time domain.
