Simplified vehicle design

13 November 2007

Maplesoft has entered an agreement with Toyota to build advanced modelling tools to help design better vehicles in less time.

The tools will be used to test and optimise designs before physical models are created, which should save time and lower the cost of development by reducing the number of physical prototypes. All parts of the car will be designed in this way.

Maplesoft’s mathematical environment, Maple, will provide the framework for this, by allowing scientists and engineers to solve complex equations symbolically, instead of performing numerical approximations. This makes Maple’s solutions more understandable, and the equations can easily be transferred to other situations.
