Contributors to the Scientific Computing World education section include:

AbsentCat, a research statistician, lecturer (including post graduate teacher training) and education development consultant.

BobTheBumbler, who works with socially damaged and disadvantaged young people as part of an inner city truancy project.

Chandra, a primary school teacher working mainly with year 6 (age 10-11) pupils, with an advisory rôle on ICT in early science teaching.

Donna, training coördinator with a large research software company.

Ivor McGillivray is a lecturer in a further education college, teaching mathematics and further mathematics at AS and A2 levels. He has a particular interest in affect in the teaching and learning of mathematics, and in links to the arts and other subject areas.

Jack McDevitt is the author of many science fiction novels, including the Alex Benedict novels mentioned by Donna and Lakshmi

KateQ, a secondary school science teacher working primarily with the 11-14 age range but also running one off “taster” activities for year 6 (age 10-11) pupils in feeder primary schools.

Lakshmi, a secondary school student. Primarily interested in the arts and humanities, she was “turned on to science” in year 9 (age 13-14) by the novel Sun Storm which she reviewed for us here.

Mike Willcox, who teaches 16-19 year old students attending a further education college on two week block release.

Rose, a new (qualified 2005) primary school teacher, so far working working with year 6 (age 10-11) pupils.

Ross, a secondary level teacher working with 14-16 year old students in an inner city school.

Sayid, an experienced primary school teacher with a science advisory rôle, who works across the 5-11 years age range.
